Fwiw, I looked at the $99 bike you linked as you suggested and the specs.
the frame quality,integrity would be a concern of mine if I were a prospect buyer and I prefer 700c/29er wheels and tires for a "blank canvas" all purpose/terrain /commute bike to modify
I am not a prospect nor am I poor so I am not interested , not a "taker"
