what would be the ideal cost saving method here
a 10 speed 105 5700 12-27 cassette for $35
or a 16/17t for $16?
or just buy a whole new cassette then what could I do with 6 shiny immaculate cogs from the old one?
6 months of riding shouldn't wear out a cassette unless you left your chain too long. You should be able to go through a few chains before needing to replace the cassette.
