Nonsense. It's more comfortable for me; it keeps my three 'friends' in place while I ride. I originally tried riding with smooth jockey shorts and frequently would experience the equivalent of groin kicks as I maneuvered on the saddle. I'm 73 (today, actually!) not fat, and don't really care what others think and/or have decided for me what I should wear when riding. That said I only wear riding gear when I'm riding my bike.

Happy birthday! you have almost a year on me. At this point I don't much care what others think, either. Not the least bit embarrassed about using/being happy with toe clips.
