Beware New Exercises

Yesterday I tried an exercise that is new to me, the Cable Cross Pull.

I kept the weight down, I thought, to 30# on each side. Standing between the two verticals on the machine and pulling the cable to lift the 30# on each side was well within my capabilities, I thought. I did 4 sets of 12, 2 with each foot forward. With the nerve damage and muscle weakness was a bit unsteady on the last couple. But, overall, felt pretty good.

Then 4x20 hanging leg lifts, a shower and off to the local family restaurant for dinner.

This morning my lower back is stiff and sore. Did not expect that!

But, when I think about it, that is a natural consequence to lateral loading of my body.

Beware new exercises, they can be uncomfortable.
