I was probably not real clear. I was responding to the hipster descriptor the the poster used to describe what he liked. The op seemed to be struggling with describing what he liked so when he used hipster in his 3rd or 4th post I attempted to have a vision of what he likes.

My understanding of the hipster fixie culture is that it evolved from the messenger bike culture. My understanding is that those were often vintage track bikes. As that became more main stream in the hipster world mods to road bikes became more common since they are more available than track bikes. I was not attempting to out line the history of cycling. I was probably comparing a 90's hipster vs a 2000s hipster.

I could still be wrong I have never been a hipster. Maybe they did start with old bike from the 20's.
