And the guys at Suntour turned around and made $5 stuff that worked 48x better...
And I don't see who can think the Cyclone is not just a total win- beautiful, works impeccably AND it weighs half of what anything else in it's class weighs... (OK, that's kind of pushing it...)

UKFan4Sure - I hope you don't take this as crapping on your thread. The Dura Ace 7400 stuff is really beautiful- the color of the anodizing is beautiful, the casting is flawless and it looks "tough" and imposing as well as graceful.
I think this is some of the stuff that really makes bike stuff fun - the functional beauty of some of these components.
I think the Suntour Superbe Pro indexed levers are the cat's pyjamas in terms of looks. The satiny finish, the twist of the lever body, the finger divots on the back...
The left shifter has that "famous" micro ratcheting that has more fine clicks than the old power ratchet shifters and the right is Accushift. I seriously bought a set of these shifters- don't have a use for them, I just thought they were so pretty that I wanted a set.

I actually haven't really had any ride time with 600 arabesque. I was planning on getting a bike real cheap that had a decent part of the gruppo but a co-worker needed a bike (and we are both about the same height) so I let her have it. The bike wasn't anything special and it needed some work but it was like $130 which was worth it.
SunTour stuff was pretty nice but sadly I don't know it as well as I do Shimano. The newer SunXCD stuff looks pretty decent (9 speed touring bits made by someone who owned SunTour or worked for them in some high position, I believe).
