My entire outfit is basically this:
White tee-shirt (XL)
Spandex
Adidas black shorts
Black socks
Starter shoes (running, but they fit me very well for just using on my bike)
Camelbak
Schwinn helmet
Bell cycling gloves
Clear protective lens glasses / Dark sunglasses (switching out depending on how much sunlight is out)
I used to use just standard white underwear, but then got 2 pairs of spandex because even though I'm just riding for fun and a workout the underwear were just awful on my parts down there. Spandex feel so much better.
Now I know my outfit is probably a little weird, but I find it extremely comfortable. I was considering not wearing the Adidas shorts and just wearing the spandex alone for less flapping and wind resistance, but I find it embarrassing as it shows my butt a lot and my front parts.
I may, in the future, get a loose moisture wicking jersey to wear but the white cotton tee shirt is perfectly fine for me at this time since even though I sweat into the cotton the sun, wind and heat will generally help dry it out as I ride.
I'm not sure what you mean by "spandex." Spandex is a fabric, not an article of clothing. Do you mean cycling shorts? Compression shorts? Something else?
