I did the same with mine but can still convert back and forth between kid hauler mode and grocery getter mode, using a big storage box attached to plywood, and then using hitch pins and cotter pins to hold the plywood to the trailer while it's folded flat.

When my son outgrows the trailer I plan on replacing the plywood with a couple of aluminum angles to support the box, which should make it several pounds lighter.
