Agree with Orange Gato. My Trek dealer ordered the bike I wanted (DS 8.5) in my size with no commitment to buy. I did put down a refundable deposit, tho. I got to try it out on a local trail for a few hours ... ended up buying it. I'd think any decent LBS would do the same.
