@Artkansas did you see that Little Rock has the highest violent crime rate in the US for population <200,000, according to the same website? Yet somehow you manage to survive a bike ride or two. My city was on this list also, although this was the first I've heard of it. I'm still not scared. Also, I'm quite certain there are three cities in Michigan with higher crime rates that didn't even make the list, so I question the validity.

These lists can be quite misleading, as they only show a few data points and offer little room for comparison. We should also remember that the crime rates for all of the US cities--indeed, the world crime rate--is much lower than it was 30 or 40 years ago.
