If I were you I'd go to your local bike co-op. Pull off that crank, service the bottom bracket and then try out whatever square taper cranks they have there until you find one that works with your existing spindle. If you want a simple solution you could always put a single ring crank in the front and run it as a 6 speed, you just need a crank with a single ring made for a 3/32 chain.
