IMO - this is an example where the phrase "be careful what you wish for..." has resonance. These would be fine for cyclists who are too nervous to ride in traffic and would accept longer light cycles with short bicycle intervals as a fair trade off. I'm not one of them, and I ride at closer to urban auto speeds, than the speeds these paths are designed for. I'm much more comfortable with some of the "vehicular cyclist" approaches than what I call "separate but not equal" bike lanes.

If cities wand limited resources on these schemes, I'm OK with that as long as they don't pass "must use" laws to protect us. However, I'd prefer that they used the dough simply to maintain roads properly.
