I Had a cheap but very well preserved Steyr/Sears 5-speed up on CL last week and ended up driving 80 miles on Sunday to deliver it. It was exactly 0.2 miles out of my way on my way to the campground where I was meeting my friends that that day, so I was happy to accept a meagre $10 delivery fee on top of full asking price.
Sometimes it just works out
The rest of the time I'm happy to tell people to meet me at work. It's centrally located and weekdays 9-5 I'm there anyway and can always take a 10-minute break to unload a bike. If they want to buy it after hours, I tell them to come on by and the give their money to the night manager, and he'll give them the bike. Completely eliminates haggling, and always gets full price. (My prices are good, anyway.)
