If I had such a streamliner I'd want footholes combined with landing gear. This way I'd use it in traffic too and not only on racetracks.
One problem with landing gear and public roads is that the roads are typically cambered to drain water into gutters. That makes it very tough to stop on the landing gear, and even tougher to get started.
A "public roads" streamliner would be a velomobile. Most of them have footholes for a little bit of ventilation and for reversing.
