$980 for a bike with entry level components? Seems a bit expensive for a bike that comes with Sora drivetrain and Tektro brakes. There's a few reviews out there but most of them degenerate into rants about Schwinn trying to improve their image with those who wouldn't ever consider buying a bike from WalMart or Target. I haven't owned a Schwinn since the dark ages when I was a kid. Once I had a quality bicycle (Fiorelli 10 speed), the the Schwinn name lost its luster. I worked in a bike shop at a time when Schwinn imported Panasonic bikes and stamped the Schwinn logo (Schwinn approved to be accurate) on them. You could buy the identical bike under the Schwinn or Panasonic name and pay 30% more for the Schwinn. That's probably true today to since Doral manufactures so many different brands in the same factory.

Your idea to keep your current bike makes a lot of sense compared to spending nearly $1K on this bike.
