I agree. If you really want to understand why your MTB likely climbs better than your road bike do this:

1) Put slicks on the MTB & pump to 80 psi.
2) Find a nice long hill, say 3 miles + at 6%
3) Find the gear that lets you spin at 80-85 rpm while you sing your favorite refrain, "I can't ride 5.5" a few pauses allowed.
4) Watch your heart rate say in z3 land.
5) Try that with your road bike. Not enough gears eh?

I want a triple.
