I have two bikes, a comfort bike and a touring bike. Both have fenders. And both have rear racks with dual Wald folding baskets hanging off them, so neither is particularly light. Perhaps folks who ride featherweight cycles are more worried about fenders than those of us who ride the cycling equivalent of pickup trucks.
