The past two repairs have been with JB weld. The epoxy stays on the frame, but doesn't adhere very well to the metal, since most of the epoxy is left on teh frame and almost none on the metal despite wrapping the entire assembly post-application of adhesive to keep things squeezed together during the curing process. The force of the chain shearing at the plate just pops it right off; it's almost instantaneous as the plate wasn't deformed much in the process. At this point, maybe I just need to attach it so it is there to take the initial impact of this happens again, and just accept that it just ain't gonna stay in place in this scenario.
