i have giros with all velcro and velcro/ratchet. i prefer the ones with the ratchet

i dont have problems with either of them staying put with many thousands of miles. you can get replaceable ratcheting buckles if you jack one up

im about to get another mtb pair and another road pair that are actually the right size
