Good job and thanks for sharing!
I hear you about the modernizing classic steel thing. In general I tend to agree, but I had the full kit just sitting in the basement and was able to score the frame for a reasonable price. Funny thing is, last season I rode a carbon Masi with Sram Rival on it--couldn't afford a nice steel frame--and it was nice, but not blow your mind nice. Basically the same kit on this 30 year old steel bike and it's more comfortable, more responsive, and way way nicer looking. Definitely changed my mind about putting modern parts on classic frames!
As for Ciocc, I had an 80s DeRosa Super Record about twenty years ago that I loved. I messengered on it until it was wrecked in an accident. Since then I've wanted another, but DeRosa's are just a bit out of my price range. So I just started looking at all the other Italian frames on ebay and when I spotted this one it was spot on in terms of size, price, tube set, and look. Pretty pleased with it!
