Hmm. Not all "classic" drops were created equal. Even back in the day you could get your deep drop type, your compact type, or your funky randonneur type at least.... And track type bars have always been more loopy - tops being curved rather than straight, too. Those are actually my favorite, in terms of appearance and normal riding ergonomics (much prefer holding the corners of those to the hoods or tops of regular road bike bars) , but unfortunately, they don't play well with controls.
