Washington DC area. When I first moved here more than 10 years ago, the bike trail network was already here, but I didn't know how to ride a bike and there were less cyclists around. Well, there were less people living here period. Now I see a lot more people on bikes. We're not in Minneapolis' league in the bike infrastructure department, but progress is being made.
I think cycling has become too common for it to be something to make fun of. Some of my friends make fun of people who wear racing jerseys and other cycling tights while riding, but that's a different topic.
