I use a 4" x 6" spiral notebook and a spreadsheet. Thus far, the spiral notebook has not crashed or been infected by a virus. It always boots up quickly. To date, it has not required any software/firmware updates.

The spreadsheet allows me to graph a few parameters, and I can quickly compare performance from one year to the next.

I use MapMyRide for grins, but I don't depend on it for much.
