Within the last 10 year or so NJ officials were keeping an eye out for a bear in NW Ney Jersey that, based on track measurements, was believed to be around 800 lbs. The critter came to the attention of game authorities after it pried open a garage door to get at some trash. Not that long after that someone (legally) killed an 800 lb.+ bear across the Delaware River in PA, not that far from where the garage door incident occurred. It was believed to be the same bear.
