All of you on clipless are welcome to them. I will not be doing those. I spent my childhood riding freaking everywhere on heavy steel bikes across everything with platform pedals. Developed allot of instinctual skills doing so while on platform pedals. an occasional crash was the norm. You got up, and pedaled off, and learned how not to do that again with better skills. If I were to go clipless, I would be literally throwing away all those skills and motor responses to all the things that can happen while riding, that I developed. Would be learning how to ride all over again, only now I'm riding faster, more dangerous situations, more expensive bikes. Plus I'm much older and don't heal like i use to. Does not look like a good tradeoff for me in any fashion.

I have no problem with my legs riding hours at a time on platform pedals, and I do have plenty of hills to climb. I do use grip pedals (those with the small pegs), but that is as close to clipless as I will go. I'm not racing, and I'm not climbing Everest. Zero benefit, and lots of downside.
