Nothing, except maybe it's easier to fool ourselves about our speed if we're not in a race?
As far as that goes I doubt that a short visor makes any measurable speed difference for a standard helmet, but I have found it invaluable in the rain and sleet, and heading into the early Sun. But again, maybe those aren't such big concerns for racers.
