I'm not sure I want to share the experience with loads of tour buses and am wondering if this can be an issue. I would continue on to Krimml and then over the Gerlos pass to eventually continue on to Kitzbuhel. I'd appreciate anyone sharing of their experiences. Thanks.
Grossglockner at the end of September should be OK, since the families with kids are back in school around mid-September.
Now if you really want to avoid traffic going up that street, I would suggest riding early in the morning. I went up the Penser Joch in Italy at around 7am and the motorcycle traffic (which is the most dangerous one in my opinion as they take the turns like no one else is on the road) was very light. Arrived on top at around 10am and I noticed traffic was picking up during that hour.
