After the dire forecasts, last night's snow turned out to be about 5 inches (8 cm). Once out of my neighborhood, the roads were wet and black. In spite of the easy conditions, there was very little traffic.

The suburbs seemed to have more of a problem, as all schools were closed and most of my office staff failed to make it downtown. It is a surreal experience to listen to all the school closings and then sail into work on mostly clear roads.
