That's the way the cagers are seeing it.
Somehow those that are happy to stick their chests out and proclaim "We now have X amount of bike lanes in our city Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah" Don't really get it!
Clearly those choosing the proposed area to be used for the pathway are not physically active, and thusly will not be utilizing it.
They're probably NOT cyclists either!
I do a lot of cycling. Some of the routes where bike lanes have been made are just crazy dangerous. I wouldn't ride them and the few that do must have a death wish. If you rode on this new Van**** bike lane with your family ,it's probable that you'd be prosecuted for child endangerment.
As suggested in my original post there is a much safer alternative to the route they chose.
I'm certain that the overwhelming majority of cyclists would agree, using a two lane side street in a residential neighborhood where the speed limit is 25 and semi truck traffic is prohibited ,certainly is much less perilous than the motor vehicle traffic on a previously seven lane street(now 5) where the speed limit is 35 and tractor trailers are allowed.
The safer route is only .1 of a mile detour ,about 30 seconds.
people on bikes pay property taxes too
Totally agree...but let's install bike lanes using the safest possible routes!
