I do know that Weinmann had knurled versions of its rims, but so far it seems as if Schwinn would use them sometimes and then not. The Weinmann rims that came on the '71 Paramount P-13 I just picked up have the lightly knurled braking surface. I suspect that these rims are original to the bike. Could the knurling be a late 60's - early 70's revision?
