I didn't pick up on the Bike-E either. A Bike-E would not be a good choice for a long tour. The seating is fairly upright and between the small drive wheel and the 3x7 rear hub, it doesn't go down the road easily. A Bike-E is more of a MUP machine, not really designed for the open road.
