A "thumbs up" to classic Fuji bikes...

Earlier this morning, I went out for a simple, short, 14.25 mile out 'n back bike ride from home. I rode out to West Creek Pkwy (it's a big business complex west of Richmond, VA and is shaped like a horseshoe). A lot of people ride in there, jog in there, etc... as the place is huge. Ride up and around, turn around at the end, ride all the way back, etc... is 6 miles total. On weekends (since businesses are closed), the place gets loaded with the "lycra crowd" on high tech $5000 racers. I ride in there and am keeping a good pace at 16 mph, and ZOOOOOM! some dude on a Cervelo (head down, holding the aero bars, a$$ up in the air, etc..) blows past me like I'm standing still! But yet, not all riders are like that. Another rider on a nice Cannondale came up behind me and stayed with me for about 1/2 mile or so, and then he pulled out to pass by me. When he got up to me, he saw my classic '85 Fuji Del Rey and smiled at me, pumped his fist in the air and said, "Yeah, Fuji!"

I guess my C&V '85 Fuji Del Rey must have sparked an old memory for him, which was pretty cool! Anyway, here is a complementary photo taken by the twin duck ponds, right by VA Farm Bureau's massive building on the pond (behind me). Also to keep with the C&V theme, you'll notice my equally "old school" Garmin eTrex Legend GPS mounted on the handlebars! Hey it still works... What the heck...

'85 Fuji Del Rey, 12 speed... It's 30 years old and still going strong... It's built like a tank and just keeps on keepin' on!
