I am done with restoring my 82 Schwinn traveler, on the stand all the RD gears work smooth, same as front , the chain hops from the large to small and vice versa, however when I ride it, moving from the small to large ring in front is quiet difficult, I need to really play with the friction shifter etc. even with the back derailleur in the correct position ( middle of 6 gears)

Take it on the stand it works like silk? any pointers?
