Rode my Trek 7.3 FX this weekend for my longest ever bike ride. My wife and I did the entire
Dakota Rail Trail from Wayzata to New Germany (MN), and back - so ~51 miles total. Didn't take any pictures, but...
The trail really pleasantly surprised me in most ways. It's in
excellent condition, and quite beautiful, with a lot of waterfront, some expensive homes to gawk at, transitioning to rolling farmland. The whole thing is well wooded and shaded. It's also
flat, which was a change of pace and kind of nice for my first ride of that length.
I did have a minor mishap... it was my first real ride with clipless pedals and at one intersection I got surprised by a car coming around a corner while I had one foot clipped in and managed to tip myself over. A minor scrape and major embarrassment were the only outcomes, though.
