I got off the bike entirely for two months -- which my wife strongly encouraged. But the bike started calling me and I found I could ride in normal traffic. After a few months I was back to normal.

No need to make a forever decision. Just do what feels right, and go with that.
Sounds like wise advice; it's not a bad idea to just take a break to let everything settle in your heart as well as your mind.

When I had a really bad motorcycle accident, it took a while to recover, physically. I was confident the whole time I would ride again, but that was an easy decision to make, seeing how I couldn't walk or hold on to more than one thing at a time, so my resolve wasn't going to be tested any time soon. I did eventually get back to it and enjoyed it as much as ever, but I might not have had such an easy time if hadn't been forced to take a break first.
