Is your SR 300 originally equipped with a steel or an aluminum fork? My '93 R600 has the aluminum fork and it is great. I would not think of swapping it unless it is damaged and can't be repaired. Just my 2 cents. Best of luck with your decision.
It's a steel fork. I keep reading all these threads about the conversion and how it improves the ride and the response in handling, etc. But then I read about how you get what you pay for with cheaper carbon forks, which is where I'd be leaning on my budget.
