That kind of stuff happens.
He bought the internet tandem because it was cheap. Then, when he wasn't able to get it operating properly, he brought it to a shop to make it functional. When I noted on the repair ticket that he needed a new (tandem) crankset and new pedals, he got upset over the cost. I had removed the ruined pedals. He was really mad at me for doing that. I think that he thought he'd be able to ride it with the pedals cross threaded into place. I don't know whether or not the shop owner was able to collect for the other work that I did on that tandem.
I suppose most of the anger would have been billing shock due to doing work he didn't ask or expect...I suppose he figured a $500 bill should have been a phone call to ask permission before doing the work.
