Right now I've got some 2.25" balloons on it--- the old wheels off my 7 speed cruiser (I swapped those out for a set with a 7 speed Shimano Nexus hub for the cruiser with 1.95" street tires. I intend to have a hybrid 3 + 7 hub laced onto the Giant rim, so I put the balloon tires on it so I can ride it in the meantime.) It looks a little weird (They're whitewalls, so make that UGLY!) but it's a lot more comfortable to ride, and it even outperforms the knobbies on pavement. I've pretty well decided that fatter street tires are the way I'm going to go on the Iguana.
I had been using my '91 Iguana as a commuter bike for riding to work. I'm thinking of putting a more upright stem and handle bars on that so I can continue to ride it to work when I go back to work. I don't think it will quite look like yours though.
I'd like to see a picture of yours.
