New Fixed Gear Rider re Pedal Strike

Experienced road rider, new to SSFG. I've not tried riding fixed yet until I get used to the bike a little but the time is near.

I hear about pedal strike and wonder how likely it is in the real world. I'm sure many people will have stories about their brother's friend's uncle who wound up in the hospital but I'd appreciate thoughts and advice from mature and experienced FG riders on likelihood and technique.

Pedals are Shimano A530 double sided as pictured. A stubby clipless-only pedal clearly has more clearance but I don't really see what I have now being wider or thicker than many of the platform pedals with toe clips I've seen in pictures. Surely people ride very aggressively with platform pedals/clips, no? Is it likely that I will strike the pedal sooner or later or should I not worry too much.

I am aware that some rock the bike from side to side as they corner under power out of the saddle - it does take guts, that's for sure, and tires with grip. What else do I need to know? I consider myself a pretty aggressive rider.
