in most cases you are very right; the people who are quick to judge or look down on you for such things probably have other reasons for thinking so which generally, but not always, make them less intersting to me personally --- that said it can still be frustrating if 99% of everyone else finds what you do strange... but i have learned to get used to it - in addition to utility cycling and being car-lite my main hobby entails crazy long, arduous mountain bike tours with massive elevation up/down over difficult terrain and love it
