I went today and priced converting mine (all shop labor) from 105 9 speed triple to 105 9 speed double...they wanted like 500+ to do it...so unless you can wrench it your self just buy a double
They don't want to tell you how to do it cheap,and likely told you a few lies too. Ditch the granny ring, and use a shorter BB spindle, maybe switch the 42 ring for a 39...done.
