You know, you might be right. I remember a few years back that, for some bizarre reason, it became a popular thing with a group of guys I knew to rack each other in the nuts. Just randomly hitting your friend between the legs... wham! Then fully expecting it back, because you'd earned it. This went on for months (I did not participate). It was all some sort of over-masculine "fun and games" to them.

Then one day, one of them started peeing blood and it FINALLY hit home how stupid the whole thing was. IMO, rolling coal is just another version of this weird self-destructive behavior, except it's even *more* dangerous where cyclists are concerned.
