WoB- What part of "sufficient to hold the component (and this means both during assembly and actual riding" don't you understand? Is it the "actual riding", which in my world means that the component doesn't slip during real world use? While not a technical writer I do believe that much of what is written is geared to the clueless and not the informed, WRT bike component instructions. Additionally requiring "exactly" xNm of torque is not a realistic goal. X+ or _ a tolerance is a real life result of using commercially sold torque wrenches.

So the real question is what's the tolerance? After enough to hold but below the max what is gained by more below the max? Remember the "Max" is a moving target given the cheap mass produced tools in the market place. Andy
