I totally gave up caffeine for a while until I discovered that the diet Sunkist that I've been drinking at my Dad's house actually had caffeine in them the whole time and I really had not been caffeine free. I have an addictive personality (or whatever) and I've given up alcohol (love craft beer) and started trying to develop a taste for better coffee prior to giving up caffeine.
The effort to develop my coffee geek got pretty out of hand before I quit and I never really developed a great sense of differentiating coffees. Yeah, I like a nice pour over and I can tell the difference between coffee from my little Hario ceramic grinder and Aeropress from the freeze dried crap they drink out of the coffee machine at work. I was just never able to really develop a sense for it like I did for beer. I think it's harder because the same beans can be roasted differently to produce a totally different taste maybe idk. I was even looking at getting a nice ceramic burr grinder for home before I gave up on it.
I liked being relatively caffeine free, but I've been having a hard time not dozing off at work in the afternoons and have been drinking more very recently. I have no idea how it impacts my cycling. I know cyclists seem to be really into their caffeine products. I've avoided the caffeine infused energy products until now.
