My initial fascination with speakers began with the wide variety of designs that were available years ago. I remember hearing the difference between a Dahlquist DQ 10 and a Klipsch La Scala, two designs that couldn’t be farther apart but they both sounded fantastic. Never had Altecs, but had plenty of JBL Studio Monitors. Of course I heard many Altecs in theaters back in the day; that big dynamic sound is just hard to beat. I have had Magnepans, Quad Electrostatics, Ohm, Carver, Thiel, Celestion, B&W, Rogers, Magnasphere, Bang & Olufsen, Klipsch, ESS Heil. The SL700s are the last remnants of my audio gear days. I would like to find some Apogee ribbons, I’m afraid to look on EBay…I might find some. Most of the speakers I collect now are raw drivers harvested from ancient organs and derelict stereo equipment. I particularly like Jensen 8, 10, 12 inch drivers. They sound fantastic with the champ head, a very recognizable sound that always brings a smile to my face.

I haven't looked in that box in 22 years so my memory's not so good.
To be honest, my focus has been squarely on tubes that fit my Champs, which would be a single rectifier 5Y3GT, 5V4G, or a GZ34. A single power tube like a 6V6GT, 5881 also known as a 6L6WGB, or a 6L6GC. A single preamp tube, I use 12AX7 tubes almost exclusively. I’m sure you may have some of these in your collection. There are many good resources on the net to figure out what you have, here is one…
