Not sure if the 40 calories per 8 oz (1/2 scoop) that exists in my Scratch Labs drink counts or not. I carry 66 oz (2 x 21 oz and 1 x 24 oz Camelbak Chill bottles) when I ride 4 hours or so with my club on the weekends. I put about 1.25 - 1.3 scoops in the 21 oz and 1.5 scoops in the 24 oz bottles. I tend to drink 1 bottle every hour to hour and a half. These bottles alone equate to about 4 scoops of mix = 320 calories alone. I always eat a good breakfast before.

If I am drinking Scratch Labs drink mix, is it even necessary to eat for 4-5 hour or less rides?
