I motioned for him to stay back and then I hand signaled to take a left. I was a little annoyed by his actions.
It sounds like you did the right thing. I get this occasionally when approaching a stop sign. The car and I will reach a stop sign at the same time, but the driver doesn't realize that if he starts a pass, he'll be in the middle of the road once we reach the stop sign. Quite odd.
Humidity and dew point are back up a bit this morning. But not bad.
I had a guy back out of a driveway just in front of me this morning. He was in a small Honda Fit type car and there is a row of bushes lining the driveway, so I'm sure he didn't see me coming. I was on a downhill and had to brake pretty hard to avoid rear-ending him. Luckily his reverse lights caught my eye just in time.
