I just got a 2015 Scott Solace 30 and am dumbfounded by its porkiness.

This is a size S model. After adding in a Specialized Toupe Pro saddle (carbon rails and all), removed the reflectors, swapped in a 113g stem, the bike weighs in at a massive 8.46kg (18.65lbs).

I will admit that this includes approx 200g (0.4lb) of speedplay pedals.

But still this is a carbon bike, for goodness' sake! And even subtracting the pedals, the weight is more than Scott's claimed number.

Is anyone else seeing the same thing or did I get a dud?

I build wheels as a side hobby so I can definitely get the weight down with a new 1400g wheelset.
