Good point, and the old stuff looks a lot cooler in my opinion. The der. is going on the 88 Hardrock I'm restoring(I know, Hardrocks aren't worth the effort), and the crank is for my single speed. Had to fight myself to not bring home a lugged bridgestone with deore DX kit that didn't fit me and a set of Lepree derailleurs(the triple pulley model) as I had nothing to put them on.
