My prescription is mild, and I don't need it badly to see, but the bike is one place where I strongly prefer glasses, because it keeps wind out of my eyes. If you don't need prescription glasses, you may want to get non-corrective glasses or goggles to keep wind out. And you get to hang your mirror on them.
It's a serious safety benefit to wear glasses when cycling and not just to protect your eyes from debris that may get thrown up. You can also do long term damage to your eyes be exposing them to constant breeze.
